In keeping with WWG’s commitment to protect the people and places we love, WWG has joined the effort of national environmental groups like the Sierra Club, Natural Resources Defense Council, and others to challenge certain environmental rollbacks pushed by the former presidential administration and to support sound policies to assess ways to prevent damage from unchecked oil and gas drilling. Sierra Club v. Scott Angelle challenges the loosening of the federal Well Control Rules, which undid many of the safety enhancements to offshore drilling put into place by consensus after the massive BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill. And in Louisiana v. Biden, WWG has intervened to support the current administration’s review of the federal government’s offshore oil and gas leasing program, to make sure that the environmental impacts on our coast and fisheries are considered. Both of these cases are pending in federal district courts in Louisiana’s coastal region.
