AUTO INSURANCE IS A MUST!

Car insurance is required by law in every state on the Gulf Coast. If you own a car, you must buy a minimum amount of insurance to cover that car and protect people you injure and property you damage in an accident. One of the most common kinds of insurance that protects you is called uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, or UM for short. With UM coverage if the person who hits you does not have insurance, or does not have enough, your own insurance policy will pay for your injuries. About 1 in 6 drivers in Louisiana do not have insurance at all, and even those who do will likely not have enough to pay for serious injuries. UM coverage is not required by law, but the small increase in expense can mean a huge increase in compensation if you get hurt. A recent report says that Louisiana has the worst drivers in the United States (go figure), followed closely by Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, and Florida. Car insurance is one of those expenses that is painful to pay up front. But when you need it, and it is almost guaranteed that you will, you’ll be glad you have it. It is required, it is responsible, and it protects you when things go wrong.
